You all received School Dance information and we need your cooperation in making your reservations. The date of our Annual Dance is Sunday, February 24th. Hopefully, all our Oireachtas dancers are supporting this event as over the years you have been the recipients of most of our fundraising through travel stipends and new school costumes. Oireachtas dancers: we also need to know if you are NOT performing at the Dance so the show can be put together (email me). You also received a letter requesting a donation to help purchase basket gifts or for donations of themed baskets. Please send in to class any of your gifts/donations, labeled clearly with your name ASAP. Please try and get donations from local business so we can create some great prize baskets. You can print copies of that letter out to solicit from local businesses, restaurants, etc. If everyone could solicit even 1 donation from a local business we would have an amazing raffle! On the letter there are also lots of basket ideas! The better the prizes, the more successful our raffle will be!
(I’ll send the business letter and order form again in this email.)
Please send in your ticket forms and payment asap.
Please let any other alumni families know about the dance if you can that might not be on my email list.
This year we are please to be honoring Chris McLoughlin Jr.! Chris has played for our Regional and National championships for over 25 years and has played for our dancers before each of these events as well as recording individual set dances for many years. We are excited to honor him for his many musical contributions to Irish Dance. So, please keep the date aside and plan to join us for a wonderful afternoon!
Our chairpeople for this event are Kerry Tadiello (201-836-3323) and Kristin McGowan (201-444-5643) . If you have any questions please contact them.
We need someone to please volunteer to help Barbara McCoy with coordinating our Tricky Tray Raffle. You can help collect prizes at class and put the baskets together at class with some parents and then bring to the dance. Please email me if you can take on this job.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Upcoming Feisanna - To get more information about the upcoming entire year you may log on to www.NAFC.com. Register online or print out each syllabus and send registration immediately as many feises have a cut off number. Do not wait, or your child will be disappointed (North American Feis Commission, 2019 Feis Schedule). Attending feisanna is a key factor in motivating your child to strive for improvement. Remember that students are to be in appropriate age categories and levels and dance material that is appropriate to them. If you are unsure of where your child fits in, in please discuss it with one of your teachers before you enter.
St. Patrick’s Day Activities:
The Bergenfield parade is Sunday, March 10th. As you all know, Patsy has been chosen as the Grand Marshal of the Parade this year and we are beyond excited for her!! All dancers and families are invited to march with our school. We usually have an amazing turnout of our dance families and we look forward to an amazing day with Patsy.
The Bergen Council Parade Installation Dance is Saturday February 23th at 8pm so let us know if you would like to purchase tickets to attend.
Don’t forget next month we will be having a number of dance outs for St. Patrick’s Day. Oireachtas/Prizewinner Dancers: Please leave your calendars available to be able to dance at these shows. They provide an important source of funds for our dancers and it is imperative we have enough dancers to participate at each of the shows. We had a number of dancers go off to college over the last few years so we really need all of our dancers to be available so we can have dancers enough for each show. Please arrange to carpool if necessary so you are available on those weekends to dance - ALL our championship dancers.
SCHOOL RECITAL/CEILI: The date for our ceili this year is Sunday afternoon, May 5th , 2019. At this event we showcase all our beginner, novice, and prizewinner dancers. So save the date on your calendars!
SUMMER WORKSHOP: The dates for this year’s summer workshop with Carol are Monday, July 29th to Thursday, August 1st, 2019. More information to follow but we are letting you know now so you can plan accordingly for vacations, etc.

We do have some skirt sets available now for purchase. We really encourage the dancers to wear our uniform for the parades, and then you will have it for our recital/ceili in May.
We also have some school costumes available for purchase. Let us know if you are interested and we can bring them in to class for you to try on.
